Clipick Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-28
This policy covers Clipick for Mac and Clipick for iPhone and iPad. In short: your clipboard history stays on your devices and, if you turn on iCloud Sync, in your own private iCloud account. The developer never receives it.
1. Data stored on your device
Clipick stores the following inside its app container on your device:
- Clipboard history: text, images, rich text and references to copied files (file names and paths, not the files themselves), with the source app and time.
- Information Clipick derives on your device: text recognized in images and videos, and detected links, colors and QR codes. Text recognition uses Apple's on-device Vision framework; nothing is sent anywhere for it.
- How you organize items: pins, tags, notes and privacy settings such as blurred images or masked phone numbers.
- Settings such as shortcuts, appearance, language, how long history is kept, and apps excluded from capture.
- Recently Deleted items, kept for 30 days.
2. How Clipick reads your clipboard
- Mac: while capture is on, Clipick records what you copy. Copies from apps you exclude are not recorded; common password managers are excluded by default. You can pause capture at any time.
- iPhone and iPad: Clipick reads the clipboard only when you tap Import. iOS may ask for your permission first.
3. iCloud Sync
iCloud Sync is optional. It is off by default on Mac and on by default on iPhone and iPad, and can be turned off in Settings. When it is on, your clipboard history (including images), tags, notes, pin and privacy states, Recently Deleted items, excluded apps and history retention setting are stored in a private CloudKit database in your own iCloud account, so they appear on your other devices.
The developer cannot access this data. Apple stores and encrypts it under its iCloud security practices; with Advanced Data Protection turned on, it is end-to-end encrypted. Data in iCloud is also subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
4. Permissions on Mac
- Accessibility: used only to paste the item you choose into the app you were using.
- Screen Recording: used only when you use Clipick's screenshot feature, to capture the area you select. Screenshots are saved to the folder you choose and to your history.
- Folder access: only the screenshot folder you pick.
The iPhone and iPad app does not request special permissions.
5. Network connections and third-party services
Clipick has no servers of its own and no user accounts. It connects only to:
- Apple: iCloud for sync (when on) and the App Store for purchases.
- RevenueCat (Mac, iPhone and iPad): processes purchases, restores and access to paid features. It receives an anonymous app user ID, App Store purchase information, device model, system version and app version. Privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Firebase Crashlytics by Google (Mac, iPhone and iPad): collects crash reports and diagnostic information — device model, system version, app version, an anonymous installation ID and where in the code an error occurred — so problems can be fixed. Privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- TelemetryDeck (Mac, iPhone and iPad): records a few anonymous purchase events: viewing the Pro or icon unlock options, starting a purchase, a purchase succeeding or failing, and restoring purchases. Privacy policy: https://telemetrydeck.com/privacy/
- Websites you preview: on Mac, when you open the preview of a copied web link, the page loads directly from that website, as it would in a browser. The page is not saved.
- Email: Send Feedback opens your mail app. We receive only what you choose to send.
None of these services receives your clipboard history. Crash reports and the purchase statistics are on by default and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy (“Help Improve Clipick”); when off, Clipick doesn’t start Firebase Crashlytics or send any statistics.
6. What we don't do
Clipick shows no ads, does not sell or share your data, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
7. Keeping and deleting data
- Items older than your history retention setting move to Recently Deleted. Pinned items are kept.
- Recently Deleted items can be restored for 30 days, then are permanently deleted.
- You can delete individual items, clear unpinned items, or permanently delete items from Recently Deleted at any time.
- Clear Local Data removes Clipick's data from one device only; with iCloud Sync on, it downloads again.
- Delete All Data permanently removes your Clipick data from iCloud and from all your devices. You can also delete it in your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings.
- Deleting the app removes its local data from that device.

8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal data. Most of Clipick's data stays on your devices and in your iCloud account, where you control it directly. For anything else, contact us and we will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Children
Clipick is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and does not knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy and its effective date when Clipick's handling of data changes, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
11. Language
This policy is also available in Simplified and Traditional Chinese. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version prevails.
